It is very normal for salt system control boxes to feel hot to the touch, especially if it's box is metal. There is a large transformer inside that generates heat.
I purchased a Circupool UL40 Salt generator to replace an old Hayward. I guess I never noticed it before but the control unit is very warm if not hot to the touch. I do not smell burning wires and no breakers or fuses have been tripped. Unit is wired directly into a pool timer so it runs only 9 hours a day. Digital display says everything is within proper operating parameters. Can anyone tell me if the heat issue is normal? CircuPool UL40 Replacement Cell
