On the APX P-Cells, the cell light comes on when it detects reduced efficiency when trying to send power through the cell. This primarily and commonly occurs when mineral scaling is coating the internal titanium plates. While a visual check can be helpful, it does not mean the cell is clean if you don't see anything. If the "check cell" is illuminated, the cell must be cleaned according to the instructions in the manual. A cell may need multiple cleanings in a row, depending on the strength of the mineral scaling. Also check that the salinity is on target, approximately 3500ppm. If the cell has been thoroughly cleaned, and the salt level has been independently tested to be on target, confirm that there is no air in the plumbing during operation, and check that the cable connection between the cell and power supply are clean and tight . If everything looks good, and if the cell is a number of years old, its inner cell may require replacement:
