The precise answer is going to depend on the specific model salt chlorinator your have (it is only showing that you asked this question from the general category page). So generally speaking if a salt chlorinator controller has a error light on about its cell, and the cell is new, this means that something else related is making it unable to pass power through the cell - the two most likely culprits would be a low salinity level in the pool water, and/or an air pocket in the cell while the system is trying to run. Check the salinity level to ensure it’s within the required range (3000-4000 ppm) and ensure that water is 100% filling the cell and that air is not getting sucked into the plumbing somewhere upstream or that the pump is not running at too low of a speed. Additionally, it is technically possible if there is a high Saturation Index level to your water chemistry balance that mineral scaling could occur in as little as 24 hours - inspect the cell for debris or mineral scaling that may require cleaning. Also, confirm that all power connections are secure and check for any error lights on the control box.
