I have always ran my pump 100% of the time and my pentair ic40 just went out after 7 years. As long as I set the salt generator correctly is it ok if I run my pool pump continuously

You would just likely need to turn down the salt generator so you don't over chlorinate your pool. If you aren't already using a Variable Speed Pump, you may want to take a look at one if you are running your pump 24 hours - you'll save a significant amount of money.
