Just bought the edge 40 and the control module has bare ends for the power source. My pool doe not have a timer but I do have an outlet next to my pump. Can I wire this to use a plug for the out?

As the manual says, its dual voltage do it can work on 110. The wiring section talks about how it needs to be on the same circuit as the pump. If you just leave your pump plugged in and running, then that's the same basically. However, if you don't turn your pump on and off with a timer, I'd highly recommend spending the small $ to set that up for the convenience and energy savings.
