Mineral scaling should slowly build up on a salt cell over the course of many weeks. Such fast accumulation indicates a high Saturation Index (also called LSI, the measure of the water calcium stability). There are a number of LSI calculators online, and lots of good information especially from Orenda. Making even slight improvements to the pool's LSI can help restore a more typical balance without such excessive scaling.
