Not sure I fully understand the question, but like most salt chlorinators it can be turned off/on by a external timer and the unit will resume its previous operation when it is turned back on. Alternatively, with programmable pumps a salt chlorinator could be left on and its flow switch would activate/deactivate it when the pump's programming starts/stops the water flow.
