That's essentially it, you just operate the cell on it's built-in controls instead of through the remote. This cell has a screen so it gives you more information and control than the original.
When you say, ""it does not communicate with external controllers"", to operate it, you manually push the buttons correct? I cannot use the Pentair Easytouch remote to operate it.
