Your Flow switch can be installed vertically and is ideally placed before the cell. In addition, you also want 6-12" of straight pipe after any elbow joint.

I have a vertical "flexible PVC pipe coming down from the filter. It's my best option for the chlorinator. Can I install the flow switch there also" does it matter if it goes before or after the chlorinator? How far away from the filter or chlorinator does the flow switch need to be?
