No, not in the least. The APX PERFORMANCE P40 Aftermarket Replacement Cell is designed for straightforward installation, easily replacing an existing Pentair® IntelliChlor® IC40®. Roughly speaking, these would be the basic steps:

- Unplug the old cell from the existing power supply
- Unscrew the old cell from the existing plumbing unions
- Screw in the new cell into the existing plumbing unions
- Plug the new cell into the existing power supply
- Resume typical pool system operation
