The APX PERFORMANCE P40 aftermarket replacement cell can be installed horizontally and vertically, but it is directional. This means it needs to be positioned correctly to ensure proper water flow through it, aligning with the arrow on the body of the cell. You probably wouldn't literally want the cell upside down in a way that the controls were inaccessible. Please let us know what other questions you might have.
