I have a variable speed pump that controls all the timing onboard and the pump shuts off at night. If I directly wire this unit to a breaker can I just use the flow valve to control the chlorinator? The wiring instructions show it being wired to a timer, which I don't have in my system. View answer

I purchased a Circupool UL40 Salt generator to replace an old Hayward. I guess I never noticed it before but the control unit is very warm if not hot to the touch. I do not smell burning wires and no breakers or fuses have been tripped. Unit is wired directly into a pool timer so it runs only 9 hours a day.
